About the Retreat
Spend Semana Santa in Guatemala from Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April in the peaceful hills of the countryside. This small group yoga retreat offers a relaxed space to slow down, reconnect, and experience the atmosphere of one of the most meaningful weeks of the year in Guatemala. Through daily aerial and mat yoga practices, shared meals, and time in nature, the retreat creates a gentle balance of movement, rest, and cultural immersion during this season of renewal.
The retreat is intentionally small, with a maximum of 6 participants, creating a supportive and intimate atmosphere. Accommodation, nourishing meals, yoga classes, seasonal activities, and transportation for the final day excursion are all included.
Alongside the cultural traditions of the week, we also acknowledge older seasonal themes of renewal, fertility, and the return of life in spring. Through simple creative moments such as egg painting and building a labyrinth, we explore symbols that have long been associated with this time of year across different traditions.
Accommodation is provided in private cabins, offering a quiet and comfortable place to rest between practices. Part of the retreat will take place at our larger retreat venue, Campo Alegre, surrounded by the open landscape of the Guatemalan hills.
On the final day we will visit Antigua, where you will witness one of the most iconic Semana Santa traditions. The streets are covered with beautiful handmade alfombras (carpets) made from colored sawdust, flowers, and natural materials. You will have the chance not only to see them, but also to participate in the making of them before the processions pass through the city.
